As Nigeria prepares to commemorate Democracy Day on June 12, 2026, the Leader of the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement 2027, Hon. Chibueze Daniel Okah, has reminded citizens that democracy extends beyond elections and must be anchored on service, accountability, and the collective pursuit of the common good.
Okah stated this on Thursday in Umuahia during a pre-Democracy Day rally organized in support of Governor Alex Otti. He said that on behalf of the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement 2027, the group remains committed to supporting policies and programmes that promote the welfare of the people and guarantee a brighter future for generations to come.

Speaking on the theme, “Sustaining the New Abia and Deepening Democracy,” Okah expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to Abians who turned out for what he described as a historic pre-democracy rally.
“Tomorrow, Nigeria will commemorate Democracy Day, a day set aside to celebrate the triumph of the people’s will, the sacrifices of our heroes, and the enduring journey towards a more democratic, just, and prosperous nation,” he said.
According to him, the gathering was not only a celebration of democracy but also an opportunity to showcase the achievements recorded under Governor Alex Otti’s administration, which he described as proof that democracy can work when entrusted to competent, visionary, and accountable leadership.
Okah recalled that three years ago, Abians voted for change, transparency, development, and hope, noting that the expectations of the people have translated into visible and measurable progress across the state.
He said the administration of Governor Alex Otti has delivered unprecedented transformation in critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, environmental sanitation, and public service reforms.
“Roads that were abandoned for years have been reconstructed. Public institutions are regaining efficiency. Investors are returning with confidence, and the dignity of governance has been restored,” he stated.
The movement leader stressed that democracy can only thrive when citizens actively participate in governance, adding that the achievements recorded in Abia State must be protected and sustained beyond 2027.
He explained that the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement 2027 was established to mobilise citizens, educate voters, strengthen democratic participation, and ensure continuity of good governance in the state.
Outlining the movement’s focus ahead of the 2027 elections, Okah identified four key areas: Permanent Voter Card (PVC) mobilisation, recruitment and training of polling unit agents, deployment of election observers and volunteers, and mobilisation of non-resident Abians to participate in the electoral process.
He described the PVC as the most powerful instrument of democracy, emphasizing that every eligible voter must obtain and safeguard it to ensure their voice is heard at the ballot box.
Okah also called for the recruitment and training of dedicated men and women across all polling units in Abia State to protect the people’s mandate and ensure transparency during elections. He further urged members of the movement to participate actively as election observers and community volunteers, noting that the integrity of every election depends on vigilance and active citizen engagement.
The movement leader also stressed the importance of engaging Abians living outside the state, describing them as critical stakeholders whose participation will help shape the future of the state.
Addressing various groups across the state, Okah called on youths, market women, artisans, professionals, religious leaders, students, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to take ownership of the movement and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous Abia.
He urged citizens to reject apathy, misinformation, divisive politics, and bitterness, and instead embrace unity, development, and responsible citizenship.
“Together, we have witnessed the emergence of a New Abia. Together, we shall consolidate the gains already achieved.
Together, we shall protect democracy, and together, we shall ensure that the progress we see today continues beyond 2027,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Councillor representing Industrial Ward 2 and Leader of the Aba North Legislative Council, Hon. Chika Diewait Ohaeri, who serves as Coordinator of the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement, thanked Abians for their continued support for Governor Alex Otti.

Ohaeri said the rally was organised to demonstrate solidarity with the governor and to encourage him to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the state.
According to him, Governor Otti has distinguished himself through action-driven leadership, describing him as a leader whose accomplishments speak louder than words.
He expressed confidence in the movement’s growing support base, stating that committed men and women across the state have continued to rally behind the governor and the vision of sustaining his developmental strides beyond 2027.
Ohaeri reiterated that the pre-democracy rally was designed to strengthen and encourage the governor, while urging him to remain focused on delivering quality governance and improving the lives of Abia citizens.
