Abia North student’s forum has endorsed the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Abia State, Bishop Dr Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha as their sole candidate for 2023 election.
Briefing newsmen in Umuahia, the secretary of the Abia North student’s forum, Miss Chika Agnes Oti said they decided to endorse Bishop Onuoha after their a thorough research of all the ten governorship candidates from Abia north.
Agnes said their immediate mandate is to ensure that the next Governor of Abia State is from Abia North extraction in line with the Abia charter of equity propounded by the founding fathers and has been practiced since 1999.
She added that Abia North Students Forum has been at the forefront of promoting and encouraging aspirants from Abia North from different political parties till the conclusion of primaries because they are students that believe in the history and charter of equity which had been in existence since 1999.
After the Primaries, the student’s forum said they discovered that 10 out of the 18 political parties gave their party Governorship ticket to Abia North’s son or daughter. The students noted that it has become obvious that as a people, they cannot go for the Governorship election in 2023 with 10 Candidates at the same time and expect to win.
Agnes Oti said they have to rise on their feet as future leaders of tomorrow by setting up a Screening Committee that will among other things consider the chances, capacity, credibility, competence, political party, and individual contact network of the different Candidates from Abia North and select one and concluded that Bishop Onuoha merited the qualities.
Her words “It is important to note that all our Governorship Candidates in
all the parties are qualified and met our selection criteria but we must present only one person. It is also important to note that other groups and establishments are narrowing down and adopting our Consensus Governorship Candidate.
“We therefore humbly request our other candidates who are not chosen to rally around the chosen Consensus candidate to ensure victory for God’s own State. We are aware that the flag/ticket you hold belongs to your political party and will definitely consult your party before stepping down for the Consensus Candidate for the overall interest of Abia North people and Ndi Abia in general. We commend your poise and political sagacity and hope that in future you will be a willing tool or resource person for Abia North people and Ndi Abia in general”.

In his remark, National President of the association, comrade Smart Nwankwo said Abia needs a governor that will pay salaries, pensions, and gratuities, adding that they saw in Bishop Onuoha the qualities they demanded and not someone who will continue with fake promises.
He also encouraged all students who do not have their permanent voters card but have registered to go immediately and collect them.
