In its efforts to provide adequate security, the State Government has presented five Toyota Sienna Vehicles to security agencies in the state in line with Governor Alex Otti administration’s commitment to the security of lives and property.
Speaking while handing over the vehicles at Government House Umuahia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd), disclosed that the gesture is designed at sustaining the progress achieved in the security sector especially during the yuletide period.
Ubah thanked the security agencies for their efforts in tackling all forms of criminality and ensuring peace in the state, stating that the vehicles were purchased by the State Government to ensure “seamless operations” in the discharge of their duties.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters while noting Governor Otti’s efforts and commitment in rejigging the security architecture in the state, also charged security operatives to be more professional in their conduct and eschew acts capable of bringing a bad name to the state.
“His Excellency has at every point in time, specified that no part of Abia State will be left in the hands of criminals and he meant it.
“For that reason, Governor Otti provided the vehicles for Operation Crush, Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Abia State Vigilante Services, Umunneochi Vigilante Services and the Police to assist them in the fight against criminality, as well as to enable them to prosecute this mandate.
“My charge to them is that to whom much is given, much is expected. They should continue in the way they have been carrying out their duties to ensure that there are no criminals being harbored within the communities where they operate.” Commander MacDonald stated.
Responding, the State Commander, Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme and the leader of Umunneochi Vigilante Services, Mr Victor Nmaezuoke commended Governor Alex Otti for his unwavering support and promised to intensify their efforts in making Abia a model of safety and security for other states to emulate.
They further expressed their readiness to continue partnering with other security agencies to enhance security in the state and ensure that Abia remains a safe Haven for both the citizens, local and foreign investors.
