Abia State Head of Service Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has called for a comprehensive attitudinal shift among Civil Servants to align their conduct and performance with the vision and pace of the current administration under Governor Alex Otti.
In an interactive session with the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Mr Ojeikere urged them to lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, efficiency, and excellence to enhance service delivery and drive the Government’s transformational agenda.
To achieve effective service delivery, Mr. Ojeikere enjoined Civil Servants to ensure strict adherence to the 24-hour turnaround time for operational efficiency as well as enhance responsiveness and productivity across the Civil Service.
He also stressed the need for the prioritization of work plans and consistent participation in tailored weekly training sessions designed to address skill deficiencies and operational needs within the Civil Service.
The Head of Service announced that career advancement, including promotions, will be predicated on exceptional skills and commitment.
He added that key determinants will include the quality of individual work plans, practical work experience, and professional development programmes ensuring that Career elevations reflects competence and commitment.
Mr. Ojeikere also stressed the importance of fostering discipline across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to achieve the administration’s goals as well as enhance public trust in governance.
