Abia State Deputy Governor,Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has assured Alumni Association of Abia State University Uturu that the present administration will do all in its power to ensure that Abia State University continue to rank topmost among universities in the country and beyond.
Sir Oko Chukwu who gave the assurance when he received a delegation of Abia State University Alumni Association, Umuahia Chapter at the Government House Umuahia, noted that the present administration in a bid to make the Premier State owned University a Citadel of learning in terms of academic and character, embarked on massive changing of infrastructure of the institution to be in line with accepted standards
The Deputy Governor who described Alumni Associations as the bedrock of every University, charged ABSU Alumni to ensure that they give back to the School that has made them to be successful in life by embarking on projects that will uplift the standard of the University for academic work.
He pointed out that Governor Ikpeazu since inception made education one of the cardinal pillars of his administration recognizing its importance in development as well as embarked on lecturing in ABSU free of charge to encourage students to study hard and urged the Association to do a comprehensive proposal of their requests to Government, disclosing that many ABSU Alumnus are in the corridor of power in the State and beyond.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of ABSU Alumni Association Umuahia Chapter, Professor Mac Ogbuagu said they came to identify with him as one that holds a Doctorate degree from ABSU, a role model of integrity, loyalty, selflessness as well as laud Governor Ikpeazu efforts in giving ABSU a facelift and infrastructural development of the State.
Professor Ogbuagu used the occasion to seek Government’s intervention in curbing the activities of cultism in ABSU, creating more industrial cities as well as partnering them in developing the State.
