A former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning in Abia State, Philips Nto, has praised the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, for attracting the position of South East Zonal Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Abia State.
Nto said Kalu demonstrated strong leadership capacity by securing the position and nominating a vibrant and resourceful lawyer, Chima Ogbonnaya, to occupy it, noting that the move would help prepare Abia youths for future leadership roles.
He added that the Deputy Speaker’s action reflects a commitment to youth empowerment and succession building, describing it as a hallmark of effective leadership.
The former commissioner also commended Kalu for his objectivity and broad-mindedness in selecting qualified Abians for sensitive national positions, emphasizing his role as a bridge builder.
Nto described Ogbonnaya as a focused, energetic and intelligent young leader capable of adding value to the office, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver on his mandate.
He further revealed that Ogbonnaya had previously worked with him in various capacities and was diligent and dependable.
While noting Ogbonnaya’s contributions as Chairman of Old Bende Young Professionals in promoting accountability and youth inclusion, Nto urged him to live up to expectations and justify the confidence reposed in him by Kalu and other stakeholders.
