Abia state government has sealed up WHERE ELSE EVENTS AND AFRICAN KITCHEN located at no one Azikiwe Road Umuahia for constituting an environmental nuisance.
Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, Mr Ogbonnaya Okereke said the order which came from the court followed the refusal of the owner of the property to adhere to basic environmental laws in its operations.
The General manager who spoke through the Head of Enforcement ASEPA, Mr Opara Macauley explained that activities of the Where Else event and African Kitchen, have been constituting environmental nuisance ranging from the poor sanitary condition of the business environment and noise pollution.
He disclosed that the owner of the business has refused to honour invitations and summons, aimed at compelling him to do the needful, warning that the agency will no longer tolerate such violations.
Mr Okereke maintained that days were gone when people operated businesses in an unhealthy environment, as well as in a manner that constituted a health hazard to others.
He emphasized the need for all to support the state government efforts at enhancing the cleanliness of the state, by ensuring that their environments are kept clean at all times as well as disposing of their waste at the appropriate time which is 5pm to 9pm daily.
