Dr. Eric Opah, Group Chief Executive Officer of Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics, has been honoured as Entrepreneur Man of the Year by The Sun Newspaper in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the shipping, logistics and supply chain industry spanning more than two decades.
The award was presented at a well-attended ceremony in Lagos, which drew leading figures from Nigeria’s business, financial, legal and political circles. According to the organisers, the recognition reflects Dr. Opah’s pivotal role in transforming Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics into a major force within Africa’s logistics sector, with an expanding international footprint.
Founded over 20 years ago by Dr. Opah, Fortune Global has grown steadily in a highly competitive industry. In 2013, the company was listed among Africa’s fastest-growing companies, a milestone cited as evidence of sustained growth, strategic vision and resilient leadership.
Speaking briefly at the event, Dr. Opah dedicated the award to his management team and workforce, describing the honour as a collective achievement. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening Africa’s participation in global trade and strengthening supply chain integration across the continent.
The ceremony attracted senior executives from the energy, shipping, finance, manufacturing and logistics sectors, alongside representatives of government agencies and regulatory bodies.Business leaders from oil and gas, banking and technology firms, as well as serving and former public officials, were also in attendance.

The Sun Newspaper Entrepreneur Man of the Year award is one of the publication’s flagship honours, celebrating individuals whose enterprises have demonstrated resilience, impact and long-term contribution to economic development.
