The new four classrooms block conceived and completed at community primary school Ekebedi in Ikwuano LGA by the member representing Ikwuano Umuahia North-south Federal Constituency, Hon Sam Onuigbo was commissioned on Tuesday 6th September, 2021, promising to pursue the rehabilitation of Ikwuano Ikot Ekpene federal road.
Onuigbo during the commissioning ceremony, said the contractor handling the job abandoned it and ran away, which made him to use his personal money to complete the work to enable the pupils enjoy education in a better environment.
The federal law maker told the gathering that he applied for a block of six Classrooms with executive toilets but the contractor came in and was building a block of two classrooms and of course, he had to stop the job through a petition and ensured that he at least increased the job to a block of four-classrooms.
According to him, the classroom blocks is the first project from either local, state or federal government since the primary school was built in 1949 and stressed the need for collaboration among public office holders to drive development in the society.
He maintained that governance is an act of collaboration beyond party affiliations, just as he promised to attract more projects to Ekebedi and other parts of Ikwuano.
On his part, former military governor of Kogi state, Col Paul Omeruo pointed out that development of primary and secondary schools in rural areas help to give better education to the children, hence, he commended Onuigbo for the gesture, just as the chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Chief Steven Mpamugo represented by Koki Nwachukwu expressed happiness because children of politicians from different political parties will benefit from the school.
The duo maintained that rep Onuigbo is doing massive with arrays of projects attracted to Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency.
The community who spoke through Chief Uzu Omendi thanked the house member for written his name on gold and promised that Ekebedi people will protect the project, while the headmistress of the school, Christiana Nwagboso cried out at the level of dilapidation in the primary school and appreciated the donor for his benevolence.
Mrs Nwagboso particularly appealed for fencing of the primary school, donation of some computers, borne-hole water to mention but a few.
