Abia State government has re-emphasized its plan to establish mobile courts in various markets to discourage traders doing business during sanitation exercise.
The state commissioner for environment, Mr Philemon Ogbonna dropped the hint while Interacting with newsmen in Umuahia after monitoring the monthly sanitation exercise for February.
Ogbonna who was represented by the permanent secretary ministry of environment, Mr Ikechukwu Oriuwa, noted that the level of compliance was poor in some areas especially the markets.
He reminded that the state government has been giving them two hours every last Friday of the month to clean their shops and environment, then Saturday the main cleanup day, they should stay at home and do their own clean up.
He pointed out that some of the markets visited like Orieugba were not kept, adding that not all traders comply with government order. He said that next time, it will not be business as usual.
The commissioner also said that they sustain their tempo, stressing that next time they will face the full wrath of the law.
According to him, the state government will continue to monitor the activities of hotel owners well as other eatries and assured that defaulters at various markets would be visited with full weight of the law.
Also speaking, the member for Ohafia South and house committee chairman on environment, Hon Kalu Mba-Nwoke said the sanitation will continue to improve.
Honourable Nwoke warned transporters mostly those coming from other states around Abia state to stop at the boundary until 10:am when the sanitation will end.
He stated that everyone should know that every last Saturday of the month is sanitation day including Abia and they should respect that.
