The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s immediate past President, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. He died in a London hospital, according to official sources.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, the National Chairman of the Forum and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Chris Akomas, described the late leader as “a disciplined, principled, and patriotic Nigerian whose lifetime of service and integrity left an enduring mark on the nation.”
According to the release made available to newsmen by Comrade Chidi Asonye his Special Adviser (Media), Dr. Akomas praised Buhari’s decades of public service, noting that the former president devoted much of his life to Nigeria’s development. “It takes courage, sacrifice, and commitment to achieve what he did. His legacy will remain a reference point in discussions on leadership and national duty,” Akomas said.
He extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Forum to the late President’s family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Federal Government of Nigeria. Akomas urged the Buhari family and the nation at large to take solace in the life of service and purpose the late leader exemplified.
The passing of Muhammadu Buhari marks the end of an era in Nigerian politics. A former military head of state turned democratically elected president, Buhari played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s modern democratic journey. His policies, leadership style, and legacy continue to generate national and international interest.
Dr. Akomas also prayed for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul, asking for divine comfort for his loved ones during this period of national mourning.
