The Head of Service , Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has emphasized the importance of selfless leadership and unwavering integrity as foundational principles for Civil Servants across the State.
Mr Ojeikere stated this during a courtesy visit by the State Executive of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGEA), led by Comrade Linda Ihuoma Unaeze, maintaining that these values are indispensable for fostering a robust and ethical Public Service.
The Head of Service asserted that true leadership entails shouldering the responsibilities of the people and making sacrifices for the greater good of others.
He emphasized that leaders within the Civil Service must exemplify dedication, prioritizing collective welfare over personal gain.
He further reaffirmed the Abia State Government’s steadfast commitment to improving the welfare and professional development of Civil Servants, underscoring ongoing efforts to create a conducive work environment that promotes efficiency and accountability.
Mr. Ojeikere who called on NULGEA to cultivate a workplace culture rooted in diligence, transparency, and integrity urged Civil Servants to shun fraudulent practices, apathy, and lackadaisical attitudes.
In her response, the President of NULGEA, Comrade Linda Ihuoma Unaeze, lauded the State Government’s transformative initiatives under the New Abia Project, aimed at driving sustainable development and improving governance.
She expressed the union’s unwavering support for Government policies and programs designed to enhance the welfare, working conditions, and professional growth of Civil Servants.
Comrade Unaeze reaffirmed NULGEA’s commitment to partner the present administration in achieving its development initiatives, noting that Local Government employees remain integral to the successful implementation of its policies.
