Head of Service Charges Public Servants on Results-Driven Service Delivery
The Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has urged public servants to adopt a results-oriented approach to service delivery, warning that delays in executing official duties compound existing challenges and erode the credibility of the Public Service.
Ojeikere made the call during a mentorship session held in Umuahia, aimed at addressing critical issues hindering effective service delivery across the public sector.
He identified unethical conduct, delays in service delivery, declining professional competence, and poor work attitudes as some of the major challenges confronting the Service.
The Head of Service stressed that tackling these issues is essential to improving performance and rebuilding public confidence, emphasizing the importance of a renewed mindset, continuous capacity building, and teamwork as key drivers of positive change.

According to him, these elements are fundamental to building a professional, responsive, and reliable Public Service. He therefore challenged public servants to be proactive, self-reliant, and responsive in the discharge of their duties, ensuring that their contributions add measurable value to the system.
Ojeikere further urged workers to uphold speed, excellence, and accountability in service delivery, encouraging them to seek support where necessary, noting that collective effort delivers better outcomes than individual action.
He also called for appropriate disciplinary measures against staff who engage in acts of indiscipline and other practices that undermine the integrity of the Public Service.
