The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa has commissioned the classroom blocks at Okwu primary school Olokoro, Umuahia south LGA renovated by the member representing Umuahia south constituency, Hon Emeka Obioma.
Speaking at the primary school, the speaker accompanied by the deputy speaker, Rt Hon Austin Nmeregini, member for Umuahia central, Hon Chinasa Abiola, leader of the house,Hon Okoro Uchenna commended Hon Emeka for promoting education.
He promised that the state government under the leadership of Dr Alex Otti is ready to deliver more projects to Abians and prayed that the federal government would do the needful for states.
While saying that the state government wants to build lasting infrastructure, the speaker described his colleagues as matured in spirit, vibrant and eager to serve.
The deputy speaker, Rt Hon Austin Nmeregini who commissioned another bore hole project at Amibo Ubakala commended the people of Umuahia south for their support to the present administration. He urged them to continue praying for the leaders.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman house committee chairman on health and chief whip of the house, Hon Emeka Jacob Obioma also known as (Tommy) said the projects commissioned were in fulfillment of his promises to the communities. He disclosed that the Okwu primary school blocks are part of his educational projects in addition to purchasing of JAMB forms he bought for some constituents of Umuahia south this 2014. National Watch recall that a heavy storm on 22nd March 2022 pulled the roof of Okwu primary school down.
Hon Obioma used the event at Okwu to pay tribute to the former labour party chairman of Ahiaukwu ward 2, the late Nduka Ekuru whom he affirmed appealed to him to help renovate the school blocks. His words, ” we have also tiled the floor of Ijata Ehere hall Olokoro and provided a bore hole for the health centre opposite the hall.
He pledged that under his watch, the people of Umuahia south would not experience cholera ravaging in some parts of Nigeria. The law maker maintained that he would ensure that all the ten wards in his constituency will get at least one project.
The mayor of Umuahia south, Obike Nnochiri, the president general of Okwu autonomous community, Mr Uzodinma Egere, Chief Madubuike Nwaigwe on behalf of Ohiya community commended Hon Emeka Obioma for fulfilling his promises and prayed God to continue to bless him.
The spokesperson of the Amibo community, Chief Corlenious Aguonu appreciated Hon Emeka Obioma for the benevolence and enjoined labour party leaders to sustain their support for Hon Obioma.
The traditional ruler of Okwu mgbaja, Eze Boniface Izuogu, president general of Amibo Ubakala, Deacon Innocent, Chief Gideon Aruocha, the.president general of Amibo Ubakala, deacon Aguiyi Innocent among others were present during the commissioning of projects.
