After the inauguration of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly on Wednesday 14th June, 2023, the member representing Umuahia South state constituency, Honourable Emeka Jacob Obioma also known as (Tommy) has returned thanks to God during a thanksgiving service.
Speaking at Saint Stephen’s Methodist cathedral Amachara, Hon Emeka Obioma flanked by his colleague from Arochukwu state constituency, Hon Uchenna Okoro, friends and family members, including his elder brother, Hon Acho Obioma, said he came to return all glory to God for seeing him through the last house of assembly election in Abia State.
Hon Emeka disclosed that he won eight out of ten political wards in Umuahia South and expressed happiness that he could not have won without the support of people.
He solicited the support of Umuahia South constituents and all stakeholders, emphasizing that with their corporation, he will do better in his new assignment.
In his admonition to Hon Emeka, the bishop of saint Stephen’s Methodist cathedral Amachara, Rt Reverend Vincent Onoo encouraged the law makers to serve diligently, with the fear of God and remember those who elected him. Bishop Onoo while assuring that the church will continue praying for him, also prayed to God to favour him, make him shine like a star and a good law maker.
He further noted that much is expected from the administration of Dr Alex Otti but advised Abians to be patient, believing that Otti and Hon Emeka Obioma would not disappoint them.
Contributing, the then campaign director to Dr Alex Otti, Hon Acho Obioma described his younger brother, Emeka as an enbodiment of many things and assured the people of Umuahia South that Hon Emeka will represent them well. While acknowledging that almost the whole Umuahia South supported his brother, prayed that he and the Governor, Alex Otti will not betray the confidence reposed on them.
The event attracted the special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on trade and commerce, Dr Chibueze Ukaegbu, the deputy speaker and member representing Umuahia East, Hon Austin Okezie Mmeregini and other prominent persons.
Highpoints of the thanksgiving service were testimonies, presentation of a Holy Bible to Hon Emeka Obioma by Bishop Vincent Onoo among others. Hon Obioma received special prayer from Bishop Onoo.
