Kalu, Anyaso Unite Abia North at All-White Fireworks Praise Party in Igbere

Still basking in the spirit of the New Year celebration, the Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Thursday joined his brother and renowned philanthropist, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, at the Ofuji All-White Fireworks Praise and Worship Party held in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The event, which attracted people from across Abia North, was a colourful and uplifting celebration marked by intense praise and worship sessions, soul-lifting music, and a spectacular display of over 3,000 fireworks shots to usher in the New Year 2026. The gathering provided an atmosphere of unity, gratitude, and thanksgiving to God.

Commending the convener, Senator Kalu praised Dr. Anyaso for organizing what he described as a remarkable event that brought the people together in one spirit. He noted that such moments reflect the strength of unity among the people and the importance of collectively celebrating God’s goodness.

Speaking at the event, the convener, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso, said the thanksgiving party was a fitting way to begin the year 2026. According to him, the celebration was designed to promote togetherness and give people a renewed sense of unity as they step into the New Year.

On the issue of New Year resolutions, Anyaso explained that while he personally does not strongly believe in resolutions without action, he respects individual beliefs. He emphasized that faith must be backed by hard work for any resolution to become a reality, stressing that resolutions without effort remain ineffective.

Sharing his expectations for 2026, Anyaso described the year as a significant one for Nigerians, especially with political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. He, however, stressed that beyond politics, his expectations are centered on better governance, improved living conditions, and a better life for the people.

He also spoke on taxation, stating that while he is not against paying taxes, it is important that funds collected from taxpayers are transparently utilized for the benefit of the people.

Addressing concerns about insecurity, Anyaso noted that although security challenges still exist, the situation has improved considerably compared to how it is often portrayed on social media.

He advised residents and visitors to remain cautious and security-conscious, adding that individual conduct and movement play a major role in personal safety.
According to him, the New Year thanksgiving celebration is an annual event, but this year’s edition was expanded and shifted from December 31 to January 1 to allow for wider participation. He explained that the change enabled more people from Bende Federal Constituency and beyond to come together, rejoice, and thank God for the gift of life and the year 2026.

The event attracted many dignitaries, gospel artists, friends and well wishers of Ofuji.
