The Mayor of Bende Local Government Area of Abia state, Barrister Chijioke Nwankwo has started the renovation and total reconstruction of the council headquarters.
The renovations was aimed to enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and overall reconstruction of the council quarters environment.
The renovation work will cover various sections within the council quarters to include the council multipurpose hall, health block, seclog/legislative block, administrative block, library complex of the council, works department, mayor and the deputy mayor’s lodges.
Other buildings in the council will be upgraded, rewired, retrofitted and repainted to ensure structurally safe and a conducive environment for the staff of the council to perform their duties diligently.
Conducting newsmen round the council headquarters, Mayor Nwankwo said that the council when totally reconstructed will boast of improved security measures and fixing of essential amenities like reticulated borehole waters.
Mayor Nwankwo reiterates that he was able to commence the renovation of the council headquarters because Governor Otti approved it and supported him to carry out reconstruction work in the council because of its ruins and dilapidated nature when they came in.
He said before now, the council boss has carried out grading of rural roads in communities like Okporoenyi, Uzuakoli, Nkpa, Item, Ezeukwu, Umuhu, and other communities within the local government for easy access, ease of doing business and evacuation of farm produce to neighbouring villages.
Nwankwo thanked Governor Otti for giving him a role to play in the rebuilding of Abia State.
