Following the directive given by Gov. Alex Otti to resuscitate secondary schools competition in the state, the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo has kick off the Alex Otti interschool competition in the council stadium.
Addressing the competitors, mayor Nwankwo outlined the virtues of the competition among school children to includes nurturing young talents, fostering healthy competition, instilling unity and a spirit of sportsmanship among the students.
The council boss encouraged schools participating from the council to build confidence, showcase their talents and be among top contenders for the award to make Bende people proud.
He expressed his excitement to Gov. Otti for reviving the sporting activities among school children adding that sports will help to position Abia again in the global map.
