The spokesman of Nigeria house of representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu says the importance of capacity building for media workers cannot be over emphasized.
Kalu stated this while speaking during the second day of Vision Africa Radio Media training institute organised by Vision Africa and it’s partners across the globe on the theme, “Effective communication: connecting God’s story with our listeners”.
According to him, the freedom of information should not be used to step on the toes because the society need quality stakeholders including the press.
He added that both private and public media organisations should increase their yearly budget to reflect the capacity training the workers need both in equipment, welfare and to become professionals.
He commended Vision Africa and it’s partners for putting their resources together to train media workers, stressing that the training will help correct the errors fake news peddlers have created in the media space.
President of Vision Africa International, Bishop Dr. Sunday Onuoha, expressed profound gratitude for the success of the training and thanked participants including his partners for their support.
