Former member of the House of Representatives for Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole, has formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the party intensifies its membership drive across the country.
Nkole completed his registration in his hometown of Ozu Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State on Monday during the inauguration of a seven-member Membership Mobilisation, Rehabilitation and Registration (MMRR) Committee for the LGA, alongside five-member committees at the ward level.

Speaking after registering, the former lawmaker expressed confidence that the ADC has the capacity to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the current administration of implementing policies that have worsened the hardship faced by Nigerians.
According to him, the ideology of the ADC is focused on reversing the economic difficulties experienced by citizens.
“APC policies have unleashed hardship on the people. I’m a people-oriented politician and a grassroots person. At the grassroots, you don’t say what is not obtainable. The reality today is that people are suffering,” Nkole said.
He added that although the ruling party still has time to address the challenges confronting Nigerians, he does not expect such corrections to happen before the 2027 elections.
Nkole, who was also a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant in the 2023 general election, said his decision to join the ADC was influenced by the party’s ideology and leadership.
He particularly expressed confidence in the leadership of the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, describing him as an experienced statesman whose tenure as Senate President demonstrated maturity and purposeful leadership.
“I believe ADC has the ideology that will reverse the hardship faced by Nigerians. With Senator David Mark’s leadership and experience, the party can win elections and provide policies that will improve the lives of the masses,” he said.

At the inauguration of the Arochukwu LGA MMRR Committee and registration officers, Nkole urged members to take the mobilisation exercise seriously by reaching out to residents in every part of the community to encourage them to join the party.
He noted that the amended Electoral Act recognises every party member as a delegate, stressing the need to expand the party’s membership base in Arochukwu and Abia State at large.
Inaugurating the committee, a representative of the MMRR leadership, Chief Lawrence Okorie, emphasised that no party congress could.
