The wife of the Governor of Abia State, Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has lauded Rotary International for its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, community development, and the promotion of global goodwill.
Her Excellency gave the commendation during her induction as a member of the Rotary Club of Umuahia Government House, held at the Aguiyi Ironsi Hall, Finbarrs Road, Umuahia. The ceremony was officiated by the District Governor of Rotary District 9142 (2024–2025), Rotarian Augustine Nnonyelu.
In her remarks, Mrs. Otti described her induction into the Rotary family as a significant milestone in her lifelong dedication to humanitarian service. She noted that her decision to join Rotary was a deliberate and heartfelt commitment to expanding the reach of her philanthropic endeavors, ensuring that more vulnerable members of society experience the transformative power of compassion and collective goodwill.
“I made a conscious decision to join this noble organization as part of my broader mission to touch more lives, restore hope to the hopeless, and give a voice to the voiceless. As a Rotarian, I am even more committed to being a beacon of light in places of darkness, to lifting the fallen, and to creating opportunities where none existed,” she declared.
Her Excellency further praised the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for its people-centered policies and unprecedented focus on human capital development, especially the declaration of free and compulsory education for every child in the state.
“Our administration believes that education is the surest pathway out of poverty, and we are committed to ensuring that every Abia child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to dream, to learn, and to thrive,” she emphasized.
In his address, the District Governor, Rotarian Augustine Nnonyelu, described Her Excellency’s acceptance into Rotary as a blessing to the organization, citing her longstanding record of service to humanity. He applauded her efforts in breaking barriers, building bridges of unity, and inspiring hope across Abia State, and prayed for divine wisdom and strength upon her.
Also speaking, the President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia Government House, Rotarian Love Ezema, mni, commended Governor Alex Otti and Her Excellency for their steadfast commitment to uplifting the lives of Abians through various charitable initiatives. She noted that their passion for humanity perfectly mirrors the spirit and ethos of Rotary International. Rotarian Eczema also appreciated the District Governor for honoring the club with his presence.
In a heartfelt vote of thanks, the Vice President of the club, Rotarian Amara Onubuogu, expressed gratitude to Her Excellency for embodying the true essence of Rotary through her compassion and generosity. He prayed for greater strength and grace as she continues her impactful journey of service.
The event featured the formal induction and decoration of Her Excellency with Rotary insignia and attracted a distinguished audience, including the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu, top government functionaries, and members of the Rotary community.
