The State Public Service Negotiating Council ( Council 1), Trade Union Side Abia State has applauded Governor Alex Otti for his workers- friendly policies which has seen his government spending over N40 billion on clearing of salaries and pensions backlog within two years of his leadership and regular payment of salaries.
The SPSNC in a Democracy Day message to the Governor ,said that Abia workers never had it so good until the coming of the administration of Governor Otti.
In a statement signed by Comrade Sunday Agoha, Chairman Council 1 and Comrade Okoye Iloabuchi P. , Secretary Council 1, they said that Governor Otti has within two years of his administration, has prioritized the welfare of Abia workers by digitizing government processes to ensure efficiency.
They noted that the building and equipping of Smart Schools in 17 LGAs by Governor Otti will ensure quality education for present Abia children and the generation unborn.
In the area of infrastructure, the State Public Service Negotiating Council, Council 1 said that Governor Alex Otti has produced unmatched revolution which has resulted in the reconstruction of 41.4 KM -Ohafia-Arochukwu road which had been abandoned decades ago, Umuahia -Uzuakoli- Abriba-Ohafia road, reconstruction of Port Harcourt road among others.
According to them, there is general improvement in security with the introduction of Operation Crush joint security outfit.
The Council however appealed to Governor Otti for accelarated promotion and the clearing of outstanding promotion arrears by Q4 2025 and to implement quarterly skills upgrade for all GL 07-17 officers to enhance productivity.
They also called for development of 5,000 housing units for affordable accommodation for civil servants and approval of 40% transport allowance to workers to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
They also called on the the Governor to sustain regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, expand subsidized healthcare services for government employees, equitable distribution of employment opportunities to encourage youth participation in governance
SPSNC finally urged Governor Alex Otti to strengthen corporative societies among civil servants to encourage financial empowerment.
