Work has commenced at the Community Primary School, Umuomaiukwu Nsulu, in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, as the state government begins the process of transforming the school into a modern smart school.
Teachers and pupils of the school expressed excitement as equipment and construction workers arrived at the site to begin work on the project on Tuesday October 14th 2025.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection visit, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Giraffe Development Limited, Mrs. Orieji Okwara Emele, explained that the school was among those selected for upgrade to smart schools in fulfillment of Governor Alex Otti’s promise to revolutionize education in the state.
Mrs. Emele assured that her company was fully committed to realizing the Governor’s vision for quality, technology-driven education, while urging community stakeholders to support the project by ensuring adequate security at the site.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Blue Giraffe Development Limited, Admiral Havy Nganodi (Rtd.), assured that the company would deliver quality work that would stand the test of time. He appealed for cooperation from the school management and community to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of the project.
Also speaking, a former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Eme Okoro, who visited the site to witness the project firsthand, commended Governor Otti for initiating the smart school concept, describing it as a transformational step for future generations.
Dr. Okoro said he had heard of the smart school initiative being introduced in several parts of the state and decided to visit Umuomaiukwu Nsulu to see the progress himself. He expressed delight at the ongoing work and praised Governor Otti for prioritizing development beyond political lines.

“I am not a politician at the moment, but I am interested in performance. What Governor Otti is doing is for the good of Abia children and future generations, not for any political party,” he stated.
Responding, the Head Teacher of Community Primary School, Umuomaiukwu, Mr. Nkoro Esiaba expressed gratitude to the state government for selecting their school for the upgrade. She noted that the smart school project would greatly enhance teaching and learning experiences in the community.
