The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, has deployed no fewer than 850 officers and men across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free 2025 Yuletide celebration.
The State Commandant, Commandant Akinsola, disclosed that the deployment is part of measures to safeguard lives, public and private property, as well as Critical National Assets and Infrastructure throughout the festive period.
In a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASC II Doreen Udugwu, the NSCDC assured residents and visitors of adequate security coverage, especially in areas of high human traffic such as markets, worship centres, motor parks and recreational facilities.
Commandant Akinsola explained that the officers and men have been strategically deployed to conduct round-the-clock patrols, surveillance and intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies, with a view to deterring criminal activities and ensuring swift response to any security threats.
He further warned criminals and vandals to steer clear of Abia State, stressing that the Command would deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach public peace or sabotage critical infrastructure.
While wishing residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, the State Commandant urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information to enhance security during the festive season.
The minister stated that the directive is aimed at preventing unnecessary hardship for road users, especially during peak travel periods, and ensuring better coordination between contractors and the government.
