The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has announced the zoning of its governorship ticket for the 2027 general elections to the Abia Central Senatorial District.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the decision is aimed at guiding members and prospective aspirants in the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the election.
The party explained that the move was taken in the interest of equity, justice, and fair play, and aligns with its commitment to balanced representation across the state’s three senatorial zones.
According to the statement, since the return to democratic governance in 1999, Abia State has upheld an informal arrangement of rotating power among the three zones to promote unity and inclusiveness.
It further noted that the current State Chairman of the party is from Abia North, while Abia South produced the immediate past governor, making it equitable for Abia Central to produce the next governor under the APC platform.
The party called on aspirants and stakeholders from other zones to respect the zoning arrangement and support the decision in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The APC also urged members to remain united and committed as the party works toward securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
