The Umuahia South Local Government Area, in partnership with the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), is set to host the 2025 Umuahia South Cultural Festival and the maiden edition of the Face of Umuahia South pageant.
Scheduled for December 28 and 29, 2025, at the Umuahia South Council Headquarters, the two-day event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the area, featuring traditional cuisine, music, dance, and attire.
Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, ATPN Vice President (South East Zone), Ambassador Onyekachi Atulomah Loveday, said the initiative—championed by the Mayor of Umuahia South LGA, Engr. Chinedu Enwereuzo—seeks to preserve and showcase the traditions that define the community.

According to her, Day One will feature a colourful road show to create public awareness, culminating in the Face of Umuahia South beauty pageant. The competition will highlight young women who combine beauty with intelligence, moral values, and the potential to represent the state in larger pageants.
Day Two will be the grand cultural festival, with all participants, guests, and visitors encouraged to attend in traditional attire. Loveday disclosed that the event is expected to expand to all 17 LGAs in Abia State, with Umuahia South serving as the pioneer host.
The pageant will attract a registration fee of ₦2,000, with prizes including ₦500,000 for the winner, ₦400,000 for the first runner-up, and ₦300,000 for the second runner-up, alongside consolation prizes.
Loveday called for support from the government, corporate bodies, and individuals, stressing that the event is non-partisan and open to everyone. She also urged Governor Alex Otti to revive the state’s Tourism Board and invest in the sector, noting its potential to generate significant revenue for Abia State.
