MOUAU VC Orders Refund of NELFUND Fees to Eligible Students

The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Professor Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, has directed that students who paid their school fees before receiving the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) be refunded.

Professor Akanwa made the announcement during the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Students’ Union Government (SUG), where she disclosed that she had instructed the University’s Bursar to immediately commence the refund process for all eligible students.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the decision is aimed at ensuring that students who settled their fees before the disbursement of the NELFUND loan are not deprived of the benefits of the Federal Government’s education financing scheme.

She also advised students to complete their course registration promptly upon resumption for the 2026/2027 academic session, noting that early registration would enable the University to commence academic activities without unnecessary delays.

Professor Akanwa further urged the newly inaugurated SUG executives to demonstrate responsible and purposeful leadership while working closely with the University Management to sustain peace, foster a conducive learning environment, and advance the welfare of the student community.
