A senatorial aspirant and former Commissioner for Finance in Abia state, Dr Philips Nto has declared unequivocally that the leader of APC in the state is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu.
He said any other person laying claim to that position is an imposter since by convention of APC, the highest office holder in a state where there is no governor leads the party.
He made the assertion in a radio programme in Umuahia where he discussed his ambition to move to the Red Chambers next year and the APC chances in the state during the elections.
Dr Philips Nto, who has successfully been screened by the APC to contest the Abia North Senate Seat, further declared that Hon Kalu has since been discharging his responsibilities effectively as the leader of the AP C in Abia state.
According to him, both members of the party executive in the state and other stakeholders have also recognised Ben Kalu as the leader
He noted that those who have refused to accord him that recognition or even attempt to dispute it are not loyal members of the party.
The former Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu, also reacted to his senatorial aspiration ,reiterating the fact that he is in the race to win.
He brushed aside the fear that he was contesting against a ranking member of the Senate, insisting that the time had come for a change of guard in the Abia North Senatorial zone.
He said his campaign was being driven by youths who want to create a senator from among themelves and who understands their problems.
Dr Philips Nto called on the people of Abia North to reject those who have appropriated their patrimony as a family business.
