As the 2027 General Election approaches, the IFEANYICHUKWU Political Movement has called on the people of Umuahia South State Constituency to critically assess the quality of representation they have received from the current member representing the constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The movement, in a statement issued by its Media Team, said political representation goes beyond occupying public office, stressing that it involves responsibility, accountability, responsiveness, effective advocacy, and a genuine commitment to the interests of the people.
According to the statement, elected representatives are expected to understand the challenges confronting their constituencies and consistently articulate those concerns within the legislative chamber and beyond.
The movement urged the people of Umuahia South to use the period leading to the 2027 election for thoughtful reflection, asking what has been achieved under the current representation, which promises have been fulfilled, and the tangible impact of the member’s tenure on ordinary citizens, communities, youths, women, businesses, and families.
It noted that such questions are essential to strengthening democracy, as citizens have the responsibility to examine the performance of those entrusted with public responsibilities.
The statement described Umuahia South as a constituency with enormous human and developmental potential, saying its communities deserve representation that is diligent, accessible, transparent, and responsive to the realities on the ground.
It maintained that public office should be regarded as a responsibility rather than a personal privilege, adding that representatives must be assessed based on their commitment, visibility, legislative effectiveness, engagement with constituents, and ability to pursue issues that directly affect the people.
The movement explained that the call to transition from “indolence to diligence” was not targeted at personalities or political divisions, but represented a broader demand for a new standard of public service and a better future for Umuahia South.
As the election draws nearer, the group encouraged citizens to ask questions, examine records, listen to different perspectives, and make informed decisions based on issues, competence, accountability, and the overall interests of the constituency.
The IFEANYICHUKWU Political Movement further called on the people of Umuahia South to support and vote for Hon. Ifeanyi Kingsley Ekwuribe, whom it presented as its preferred candidate for better and greater representation.
The statement concluded with a call for residents to join the IFEANYICHUKWU Political Movement and support its campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
