The good people of Abam clan in Arochukwu LGA of Abia state has performed a ground-breaking ceremony of their customary court with thanksgiving to Almighty God who made such a milestone possible in Abam.
The ceremony which took place at the traditional headquarter of Abam clan known as Amaelu Abam which is the ancient home of Abam-Onyerubi, attracted great sons of Abam clan.
Performing the ceremony,the chairman Abam Onyerubi Traditional Rulers Council and traditional Ruler of Okorie-Ogori autonomous Community Abam,HRM Eze Evangelist Ogbuka Origa expressed immense gratitude to God for making the ceremony a huge success.
According to him,” Today is a very memorable day in Abam Onyerubi as we perform the ground-breaking ceremony of our customary court .
” Let me place my immense gratitude to God who by His grace made this gathering possible ,of course it is not of him that willet nor him that watereth but of him that showth mercy .

“Many of us with commendable and representative words of praise , appreciate His goodness and greatness towards the people of Abam Onyerubi clan .
” So to speak,for any Success to be recorded, people of faithful character have huge sacrifice for such greatness, people who have allowed the revealed word of God,to teach them,instruct them, discipline and train them in righteousness,to worship God in His knowledge and holiness,, because He is supreme God that tolerates rivals ,but want us to worship only Him in spirit and truth,to reverence in Him alone in awe and will .

” The land breaking ceremony of the new Abam customary court Ama Elu Abam , you will properly address your past today with prospect with the true knowledge of who God is to make your today better than yesterday and your tomorrow better than today”
Speaking on why he used anointing oil in place of alcoholic drink,he said as a traditional Ruler and Christian, I use anointing oil to consult the living God .
” We traditional Rulers agreed to pray together,we believe that faith in Christ Jesus is the only thing that can save us and we decided with other Believers used anointing oil instead of alcoholic drinks”
In his speech, the President General of Abam Development Union,Mr A Onwuchekwa lauded the people of Abam for this new dawn, said the importance of building a new customary court in Abam is to enhance justice and do substantial justice to the parties that have dispute as well as to ensure quick dispensation of justice without recourse to the rigorous and technicalities of the common law.
In his Contribution,the Deputy President General of Abam Development Union,chief Okere Kalu, expressed appreciation to God for giving them opportunity to move Abam forward.
According to him,” The old court room was built in 1930s ,so the building has dilapidated and aged that the current customary court chairman Abam,refused to sit in that building thereby moving the sitting in another building, because of the fear that the building may collapse.
” Based on that,we have decided to build another customary court building.The current regime of Abam Development Union decided to build it and what we have come to do is a milestone in Abam because we are starting a new project and it is a step to other good things that will come”
He further described the project as Abam peoples’ project but being sponsored by one of the sons of Abam,chief James Umeh Kalu and “we appreciate him so much”
