True scholars know better. Separation of powers was never meant to be separation of purpose. It was meant to create partners in progress, not opposing camps in combat, and it takes a rare kind of political maturity to make that partnership real when ambition is loudest.
THE MYTH OF ABSOLUTE SEPARATION AND THE WISDOM OF HARMONY
The greatest democracies do not thrive on constant warfare between arms of government; they thrive on collaboration anchored on mutual respect. Dr. Johnpedro Nnamdi Irokansi understood this timeless truth when many preferred chaos. He understood that checks and balances do not mean checks and blackmails.
AT THE FORMATIVE STAGE, ABIA STOOD AT A PRECIPICE
At the birth of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, the air was thick with uncertainty. A new administration needed a stable legislative takeoff, but the political landmines were many. Men with deep pockets like Erondu Uchenna Erondu waited in the wings, ready to plunge in with enormous weight. The contest could have easily tipped Abia into a protracted crisis of leadership and legitimacy.
THE MAN WHO DARED WHAT OTHERS FEARED
In that tense moment, when many calculated personal gain, Dr. Johnpedro Nnamdi Irokansi PhD did what no individual at that point could muster the courage to do. How he navigated that delicate transition, how he doused the flames of ambition, is best known to him, but the result is known to all of us. He provided the stability.
THE STABILITY WE ENJOY TODAY HAS A NAME
Let no one rewrite history. The Executive/Legislative harmony that Abia State enjoys today, the smooth takeoff that allowed the present administration to settle and work, did not happen by accident. It was midwifed by Irokansi. He risked everything, his relationships, his comfort, his essence, to ensure the House did not become a theatre of war.
THE CRUEL IRONY OF A SYSTEM THAT EATS ITS BUILDERS
Today, observers of Abia politics watch with a heavy heart. Instead of appreciation for the man who gave the system a solid footing, what has been deployed against Dr. Irokansi is a cocktail of blackmail, lies and brazen intimidation. None of the weighty allegations paraded against him has passed through the crucibles of proper investigation.
PILLORIED BY THE VERY HOUSE HE PROTECTED
He has been pilloried, suspended and disgraced by the same system he risked his essence to protect. This is not just injustice to one man; it is a dangerous signal to every Abian who believes that selfless service will be rewarded. If a stabilizer can be so treated, who will stand up next time the state teeters?
THE GLITZ AND GLAMOUR ARE GONE
Anyone who knew the Abia State House of Assembly in its vibrant days will tell you the truth we whisper in corners: the House has lost its glitz and glamour. What we experience now is comatose, driven by a lackluster administrative machinery that lacks institutional memory, intellectual depth, and legislative craftsmanship.
A HOUSE WITHOUT ITS ENGINE ROOM CANNOT FLY
An Assembly is not just about sitting and standing; it is about procedure, precedence, research, and quiet administrative brilliance. That engine room was Irokansi’s domain. Without him, the legislature is loud but hollow, active but not productive. The colour has faded.
JUSTICE IS NOT A FAVOUR, IT IS A DEBT
To recall Dr. Johnpedro Nnamdi Irokansi is not to do him a favour. It is to pay a debt Abia owes to fairness and to posterity. You cannot celebrate stability while punishing the man who planted it. You cannot preach harmony while humiliating its chief apostle.
AN APPEAL TO CONSCIENCE AND POWER
This is therefore an appeal, respectful but urgent, to the powers that be, to the leadership of the 8th Assembly, to elders of our party, and to all men of goodwill. Look beyond whispers and political vendetta. Look at the facts. Look at the sacrifice.
RECALL HIM, REINSTATE HIM, RESTORE THE HOUSE
The most justifiable, most honourable, and most politically wise thing to do is to recall and fully reinstate Dr. Johnpedro Nnamdi Irokansi. Let due process, not media trial, determine any allegation. Let investigation, not intimidation, be the standard.
BECAUSE ABIA IS BIGGER THAN ANY GRUDGE
Abia State is bigger than any clique, any grudge, or any momentary power play. We need all our best hands on deck. We need men who understand that the arms of government must collaborate for democracy to deepen. We need Irokansi.
HISTORY WILL JUDGE WHAT WE DO NEXT
History is watching. It recorded who caused confusion, and it recorded who brought peace. It will also record whether we chose gratitude or ingratitude. Let Abia choose gratitude.
LET THE STABILIZER RETURN TO STABILIZE AGAIN
Dr. Irokansi did not ask for praise when he stepped into the fire at the formative stage. He does not need pity now. He deserves justice. Recall him, reinstate him, and let the Abia State House of Assembly breathe again.
