Hon. Kingsley Ifeanyichukwu Ekwuribe has emphasised the importance of transparency, accountability and responsible leadership in public service, describing them as essential elements for building public trust and strengthening the relationship between elected representatives and their constituents.
Ekwuribe, who is associated with the Umuahia South State Constituency, said the people deserve openness, honesty and a clear understanding of decisions taken on their behalf.
He noted that leadership goes beyond occupying a position of authority, stressing that it involves accepting responsibility, communicating openly, listening to public concerns and ensuring that governance serves the common good.
According to him, effective representation must be anchored on integrity, accountability and respect for the people’s right to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
He maintained that the people of Umuahia South deserve representation that values their trust, respects their opinions and recognises public office as a responsibility entrusted to leaders by the people.
Ekwuribe further noted that transparency promotes confidence, strengthens relationships between leaders and constituents, and creates opportunities for meaningful participation in governance.
He added that when public officials embrace openness and accountability, citizens become better informed, while trust between representatives and the people is strengthened.
