Isi-gate & Ubani market to receive adequate attention soon: Otti assures

The Abia Government has promised to decongest Isigate and tackle clusters of street trading that have damaged the beauty of the environment.

The Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Trade and Commerce, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu made the promise while interacting with news men in his office.

According to him, the government would build a central median accross the road starting from Warri street, to ensure that motorists do not take a U- turn at Warri Street but do that at ShopRite axis.

The Special Adviser, who stated that,such an action would ease traffic in and around Isigate, Umuahia noted that one of the reasons the illegal traders are found there is the illegal parks that are allowed to exist around there.

He further revealed that the Abia State government has plans to relocate the motor parks to approved parks, adding that, the Governor has already constituted a committee on street trading which would soon be in place.

He further explained that the aim is to provide a conducive place for them, revealing that the plan is to move all those clusters at the Isigate to other areas.

Dr. Ukaegbu said that the state government is working for proper harmonization of market taxes in the State and maintained that the vision of the Governor Alex Otti led administration in the State was to provide condusive environment and raise revenue for the State and attract investors as well as increase IGR and bring development to the State.

He said that government plans to tare the Ubani market, provide water borehole, electricity, access road for Ubani-Ibeku market through fixing of Umueze-Agbo-Ubani road while potholes in Uzuakoli road would be filled up.

He also said that Ariaria is of great importance to the present administration and would be upgraded to it’s befitting status of international market and solicited continuous support of all and sundry to the success of the Governor Alex Otti led administration.
