OPA Blows Hot over Anointing of Candidates Against Their Wish

Ohuhu Progressive Alliance OPA, has warned those who have been holding clandestine meetings, selecting candidates that should be voted for in the forthcoming elections, as directed by an illegally constituted “Ohuhu Decide/All Ohuhu Stakeholders Forum”, to desist from putting a clog on the wheels of progress of Ohuhu land or face the wraths of the land.

In a press statement they issued to newsmen after a briefing in Umuahia, the leadership of Ohuhu Progressive Alliance, which described itself as the voice and strength of Ohuhu people, from the days of Dr Michael Okpara, said that OPA was established to put things aright with the intention of bringing Ohuhu land to her place of pride and enviable position.

Speaking through their president, Chief Nkemakolam Chukwudi, with the Secretary, Isigwuzo Ikechukwu, and members like Laz Okebalama, Uche Nwokorie, Maxwell Ugo Nwosu and Iheanyi Adiele, the group said that they emerged to checkmate evils going on in Ohuhu land, such as greed, selfishness, uncontrolled quest for wealth and political positions, which they consider shameful.

“As a result of the clandestine activities of the relevance-seeking illegal group, which we believe is capable of stirring up disaffection, turbulence and anarchy during the election, we have decided to call them to order, for arrogating the powers of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to themselves, by selecting one Candidate, among those that emerged from primaries of various political parties, saying that Ohuhu people have selected him as the one to be voted for in the forth coming elections.

“We have sat and considered their actions atrocious and hereby disown and disassociate ourselves from them based on the facts that their actions are capable of causing breach of peace in Ohuhu land during the electioneering period, added to another fact that they have no authority, law or traditional standing backing their fire ignitable actions”, the group stated .

OPA explained that High Chief Ikechi Emenike’s victory at the Supreme Court has made every well meaning Ohuhu man, woman and youth to support him and all his team members to achieve success for Abia and Ohuhu in particular, as the clan does not want any horse trading in the election.

“Considering the situation at hand, anyone who loves Ohuhu project will not want to stir up in-house wrangling, as it is now late for our people to engage one and another in issues of choice when choices already made by our leaders are widely accepted and supported .

“If we trust and believe in Emenike project, we should also trust his sense of selecting capable people in his team, one of who is Hon. Obilor Ogbonnaya, an All Progressive Congress, APC, Federal House of Representative Candidate, whom the group wanted to trade in for a less acceptable candidate of another party”.

“Hon Obilor is the most qualified candidate for Federal House of Representatives within and outside Ohuhu land, he has managerial capacity, and has not in anyway contributed to the woes of Ohuhu land like those being peddled by this group”, OPA explained further.

They described Obilor as an honest, transparent young man, whose desire to serve his people cannot be matched by any other, which “is the reason why Emenike cherishes and brought him into his team”.
