The Umuahia South Local Government Area PDP Campaign Council has inaugurated a 50-man campaign committee for Ahiaukwu Ward 2 as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and expand the party’s campaign structure across the local government area.
The inauguration, held on September 28, 2026, brought together party leaders, campaign council members, stakeholders and grassroots mobilisers from Ahiaukwu Ward 2.
The event was led by the Director-General of the Umuahia South PDP Campaign Council, Hon. Ikechi Nnanta, alongside the Chairman of the Umuahia South PDP, Elder John Anyanwu, and other members of the campaign council.
Addressing the gathering, the campaign leadership emphasised the need for unity, discipline, effective communication, grassroots engagement and collective responsibility in building an effective ward-level campaign structure.
The newly inaugurated 50-man committee was tasked with working closely with party leaders and stakeholders, strengthening communication within the ward, mobilising eligible supporters and coordinating campaign activities at the grassroots.
The inauguration also provided an opportunity for party leaders to interact with grassroots members, reinforce the party’s organisational structure and encourage greater participation in the democratic process.
The Ahiaukwu Ward 2 Campaign Committee expressed its readiness to work with the Umuahia South PDP leadership and the campaign council in carrying out its responsibilities.
The campaign council urged party members, supporters and community stakeholders in Ahiaukwu Ward 2 to remain united, peaceful and actively engaged as campaign activities continue across the local government area.
The council said the committee would serve as a link between the campaign structure and residents of Ahiaukwu Ward 2 through sustained grassroots engagement and mobilisation.
