One term member of Abia state house of assembly from 2019 to 2023, Hon Aaron Uzodike has appealed to Governor Alex Otti to direct the Speaker of Abia state house of assembly, Hon Kingsley Emeruwa to inaugurate him as the duly elected member for Aba North State Constituency following his re-election in 2023.
Hon Uzodike who made the appeal while interacting with newsmen in umuahia, said on 27th November 2023, the court of appeal sitting in Lagos sacked Hon Destiny Nwagwu of Labour Party as the member for Aba north state constituency and declared him the authentic winner of March 18th, 2023 state house of assembly election for Aba north.
According to Uzodike who is a member of the peoples democratic party, the independent national electoral commission, INEC on 13th December 2023 presented certificate of return to him as ordered by the appeal court.
Uzodike added that he submitted himself to the Abia state house of assembly on 14th December 2023 for inauguration, but was surprise that the speaker told him that he will not be inaugurated following an order from above.
Hon Aaron Uzodike disclosed that on 19th January, 2024, Destiny Nwagwu who lost in the appeal court filed a suit at Obehie Ukwa state high court, not against his victory, but challenging his certificates, which the speaker again sent his chief press secretary refusing to inaugurate him because of the suit.
Uzodike revealed that on 19th March, 2024 after several adjournments, the matter was dismissed in court and those joined in the suit, including the speaker of Abia state house of assembly, the state attorney general and commissioner for justice did not appear in the court.
While commending Abia state governor, Dr Alex Otti for his dogged efforts to develop Abia, Hon Uzodike appealed to Otti to obey the court and direct the speaker to inaugurate him.
He maintained that the matter is no longer in any court in Abia, outside Abia, Nigeria and Africa in general and will not fail the temptation of going to any court again.
Uzodike told journalists that he has informed his party, the PDP of all his efforts even his formal letter to the Speaker of Abia State house of assembly.
Meanwhile, efforts made to reach the leadership of the house proved abortive.
