We are setting the records straight, not to witch-hunt any civil servant: Abia HoS

Abia State acting head of service, lady Joy Maduka said the ongoing workers verification exercise was not initiated to witch-hunt anybody but to end alteration of papers by some public servants.

Lady Maduka stated this during the official flagging off of workers physical verification at Ochendo international conference centre Umuahia. She said since the inception of the new administration of Dr Alex Otti, there has been a focused action to streamline the activities in Abia State public service with a view to better the lots of Abia workers and enhance efficient and effective service delivery mechanism of the service.

According to her, it is the belief of Abia State government that after the exercise, Abia State public service would have been purged of some negative vices such as ghost workers syndrome, while genuine workers shall have all the dividends of the service, including prompt and regular payment of salaries, promotions, leave allowances and pensions.
“With the app the state government has built, no body can cheat the state government again or extend his or her days in service. The app will remind you when to retire, will not allow anyone to falsify his or her documents”.

Earlier in his remark, the chairman of the verification committee, Mr Chuka Agomoh said the physical verification was designed to compliment the online exercise, promising that the exercise will be seamless, and all issues resolved amicably.

He added that the state governor is serious with the verification, therefore, Chuka Agomoh and Joy Maduka urged the public servants to avail themselves of the opportunity as they will not regret it.
