The team lead of Abia state, federal ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Mrs Florence Chukwude says the team is in Abia State for enumeration exercise in the state on school feeding programme.
Mrs Chukwude disclosed this while interacting with newsmen in Umuahia after the team visited Ahiaeke community primary school Ndume Otuka and Ugba Primary School, Bende road Umuahia both in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state, added that the exercise was designed for pupils from pupils in primary one to three, while one thousand, thirty schools in Abia State public schools are benefiting from the program.
According to her, the ministry of Humanitaria Affairs has a mandate to reach out to additional five million pupils by 2023 as directed by Mr President and disclosed that over nine million pupils have so far benefited from the homegrown school feeding program.
She stated that the program has increased enrollment of pupils in public schools and thanked the head teachers, cooks and state government support for the efforts of the federal government, urging them to show more committment in ongoing enumeration exercise for the benefit of the pupils.
Mrs Florence Chukwude therefore pointed out that the verification exercise will bring effectiveness, transparency accountability and sustainability of schools feeding programme.
Recall that national orientation agency, NOA Abia state through its state director, Dr Ngozi Okechukwu assisted in distributing the enumeration forms.
