2022 Post UTME: Parents & Students Lament Over JAMB Frustrations During EXAMs

A former permanent secretary in Abia state civil service, Mr Dinneys Chijioke has lamented over repeated lapses during JAMB exams and the treatment meted to students who are cut half way during JAMB exam on Friday 6th May, 2022 due to logistics lapses.
Mr Dinneys who spoke along side another parent, Mrs Gloria Abiakam said the generator that was powering the systems at JAMB centre at Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State went off half way.
According to them, the situation frustrated the students, and affected the afternoon and evening exams.
Mr Dinneys and Mrs Abiakam said they have complained to JAMB officials.
Mrs Abiakam added that they spent upto twelve thousand naira (12,000) for accommodation to beat time, still the exam did not go well.
Mrs Abiakam recalled that similar incident happened 2021, where the students were not allowed to utilize the time allocated to them, even those writing to study professional courses that required higher scores.
Some students who narrated their experience, described it as a huge distraction and called on JAMB to grow beyond some of the challenges they are facing yearly.

He added that the situation was so unfortunate, adding that the centre is one of the best in the state. He confirmed that the fuel from the generator got finished half way after accreditation.
The JAMB official told the mammoth crowd that the generator was filled with enough fuel yesterday Thursday, 5th May by the operator, but unaware to him that the generator was later used which reduced the quantity of fuel in it.
He also claimed that the students have twenty minutes to finish their exam before the generator went off and promised that they will start from where they stopped to finish up, as at the time of filing this report.
