The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter says after due consultations with elders and stakeholders of the party including the touring of the 17 LGAs, concluded to zone their 2023 Abia Governorship position to Abia Central senatorial district and Abia North Senatorial district.
Briefing newsmen at the party secretariat in Umuahia after their meeting, the publicity secretary of PDP in Abia State, Chief Fabian Nwankwo, said the decision was taken to douse tension, adding that the party observed that most Governorship aspirants are coming from the two zones.

According to Nwankwo, all those from the above mentioned zones who are aspiring for the position of Abia State Governor, should liase with the party for presentation of to the state elders committee between Saturday 26th March, 2022 and latest 30th March 2022.
He noted that the party is appreciative of the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for the confidence he has shown in the party and urged him to continue to show examplary leadership and to ensure the PDP flag bearer for election 2023 emerges through a process guided by party decisions.
The party in another development wishes informed party members that the new membership cards are available at the various local governments and are free courtesy of the Governor.
