The Concerned Stakeholders of Ikwuano Umuahia has presented Expression of interest and Nomination forms to the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, calling on him to aspire for the post of Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency come 2023.
The stakeholders said they have considered the efforts of the speaker and observed that he deserves to continue speaking for his people, not minding the call by some youths few days ago calling on the speaker to run for the Governorship seat.
The Concerned Stakeholders who spoke through the chairman of Abia worriors, Chief Emeka Inyama said the speaker has touched the lives of many people, including the youth and built stadia across the three local governments that made up Ikwuano Umuahia and even beyond the zone.
Inyama flanked by Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, Chief Tony Ezebuiro, Sir Emma Nwabuko, Hon Wisdom Ogbonna, Sir Lucky Akabuike among others, noted that the speaker has brought stability to the state house of Assembly, therefore, they met, resolved and visited to call on him to go and represent them at the federal house of representatives, Abuja.
According to them, great achievers like the speaker in other places, were elevated from state to the Senate, just as they promised to give him the depestal to clinch Ikwuano Umuahia federal house of representatives seat.
Contributing, the member representing Umuahia South constituency, Hon Jerry Uzosike said he believed in the project and supported the move made by Concerned Critical Stakeholders of Ikwuano Umuahia.
Hon Uzosike appealed to the speaker not to reject the offer given to him, considering his antecedents as the speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and a proud son of Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency.
Responding, the speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji appealed to the stakeholders to give him 48 hours to do consultations, because he wants peace in Abia, as well does not believe in do or die affairs.
The speaker emphasized that Ikwuano Umuahia remains a deciding factor and Abia south and Abia north should recognize that.
He added that very soon, he will make comprehensive statement about the house of representatives form and thanked the stakeholders for their support.
