63rd Birthday: Ikoh Celebrates with Afara Inmates, Makes Donations

Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, the Honorable Minister of State, Science, Technology and Innovation, visited the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Umuahia, Afara-Ukwu, Abia State to Celebrate his 63rd birthday Sunday, the 9th April, 2023 with inmates,

The climax of the visit was cutting of birthday cake by Chief Ikoh.

The occasion took place at Church Auditorium inside the Correctional Centre.

On hand to receive the Minister was, DCC Anyahara and Correctional Centre Protocol S.C Jennifer Eziulo, thanked the Minister for finding time to visit the Centre which they acknowledged has become a yearly visit. Mr Anyahara made a passionate request to the Hon Minister for his assistance to help the Centre, which includes provision of borehole, Plasma TV, Church Sound System and Generator Set.

In his response, Chief Ikoh being a philanthropist and magnanimous in nature, immediately ordered the drilling of a borehole to provide portable water and provision of television for the inmates at the Correctional Centre. He advised the inmates to be humble and go close to God and prayed that God will give them the grace to be better citizens when they regain freedom.

Responding, the Deputy Comptroller Correction, DCC Anyahara Chukwuemeka appreciated the minister for his kind gesture.
He disclosed that Afara Correctional centre has seven hundred and twenty six inmates and not an idle place, just as he solicited for skills acquisition tools to enable the inmates acquire relevant skills while leaving the centre.

Anyahara maintained that most of the inmates have acquired education upto university level due to their partnership with the National Open University of Nigeria.
