The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has won PDP primaries for Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency.
The election was done through the three man delegates.
The PDP election committee chairman for Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency, Hon Tony Mezie Nwaubani declared the speaker winner having secured a wide margin of votes against other contestants.
According to Hon Nwaubani, out of ninety nine votes from the delegates which is made up of three local governments, Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South, Chinedum Orji polled 86 votes, the President General of Ohuhu, Obi Aguocha got 8 votes, John K Nwadinaobi 2 votes, Kelechi Onuzuruike zero vote, Emeka John 1 vote and Chidiebere Nwachukwu 2 votes.
Nwaubani who thanked the delegates and party faithfuls for comporting themselves well during the election, had announced that the party was keen for transperant primaries.
With the result, the speaker will flag the party’s flag during the secondary election.
After the election, supporters of Mr speaker were seen singing solidarity songs, hailing the speaker’s emergence.
