Abia state government says it has taken measures to ensure free traffic jams along the ongoing expanded Ossah road and another road as people return for Christmas celebration

The General Manager of Umuahia Capital Development Authority, UCDA, Mr Kingsley Agomoh disclosed this when he led other security agents including Road Safety and Homeland Security on the directive of Governor Dr Alex Otti.

He noted that the visit was to identify possible areas of diversion on the Ossah Road through Aba Portharcourt and Enugu Expressway.

Mr Agomoh said that the security agents will work in synergy to ensure that people do not sleep on the road as a result of gridlock.

He said that the contractor handling the expansion of Okpara Square Abia Tower to six lanes is working round the clock to ensure that one side of the road is open for use before Christmas.

The GM UCDA used the visit to advise transporters and those doing business along the tower axis to move inside for their businesses

Speaking to the contractor handling the road, Mr Toms of Craneburg Company said that the company has commenced asphalting on one side of the road.

He assured that one side of the road will be ready for use before Christmas, and advised motorists making use of the road currently to follow the necessary diversion and operate accordingly as well as follow the directives of road safety and security agents handling traffic on the road.
