OPAH VOWS TO EASE TAX BURDEN ON ABIANS, ABOLISH EIGHT-YEAR RETIREMENT POLICY FOR DIRECTORS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah, has pledged to ease the tax burden on residents, abolish the eight-year premature retirement policy affecting Directors in the state civil service, and promote unity between the people and government.

Opah made the pledges while speaking at a press conference held at his campaign headquarters on Azikiwe Road, Umuahia.

He said his administration, if elected, would prioritise policies aimed at reducing the tax burden on Abians, improving the welfare of workers and creating a more inclusive relationship between the government and the people.

On the state civil service, the APC candidate promised to abolish the eight-year premature retirement policy for Directors, stressing the need to protect the careers, experience and professional contributions of senior civil servants.

He also pledged to promote unity across the state and ensure that government business is conducted with the highest standards of transparency and accountability.

Opah maintained that his vision of governance would be anchored on openness, fairness and responsible management of public resources, with the interests and welfare of Abians at the centre of government policies and decisions.
