Abia state commissioner for environment, Chief Sam Nwogu had charged Aba landlords and shop owners to embrace the ongoing of scooping of gutters in Aba and it’s environs.
Chief Nwogu gave the charge while monitoring the monthly sanitation in Aba and commended residents of Opobo, Umuola, Ukaegbu among others who have scooped their gutters.
He promised that the state government has started catering away the debris scooped from the gutters and warned those channeling their waste pipes into the gutter to stop because government is coming very soon to arrest and prosecute them.
According to Sam Nwogu, government will do their part to build infrastructure like roads with drainages, but cautioned those who are bent in blocking gutters with refuse to stop forthwith.
Similarly, Abians have been urged to take the monthly clean up exercise seriously.

Barrister Nwogu who frowned at the movement of people and vehicles fifteen minutes past Nine am into the clean up time, charged citizens to join hands in the program of keeping the state clean, adding that cleanliness is next to godliness.
He also charged Abia youths to abstain from playing football on the street during the clean up, rather clean up the streets, warning that they will be prosecuted by the environmental court if they continue.
