Land owners of Abia airport project have continued to protest over alleged unfair treatment by Abia State government.
They were carrying ply-cards with inscriptions such as adequate compensation should be paid to land owners, 30% discount is not allowed from government after taken 10% from the attorney among others.
Speaking during the protest on Wednesday from Umunkolo civic hall, the village head of Umuezenta Mbaro Ogbom Okpuala Mbawsi, Echezola Ukaumunna alleged that the state government arranged party women who came to the airport site dancing that conpensations have been paid.
He debunked the report of paying any compensation to their people and further accused the state government of not doing the right thing for the land owners. He maintained that as at now, they cannot ascertain the exact hacters of land for the airport project.
“I am a land owner and i have not received any kobo, how can someone come to claim that land owners have been compensated”.
Another land owner, Chimaeze Nwabuko from Umulenwa Mbawsi said that the state government should go to the former site they mapped out for the airport project.
According to him, they are no longer comfortable with the process being adopted by state government to acquire their land.

He requeted that the state government should come for re-negotiaton to know the proper size of land they are taking.
Another land owner who is a woman and a farmer said that the farm season is on and their people are going to loose their land, yet they have not receive settled.
The armed police men stationed at the entrance of the airport site did not allow the land owners to protest further, urging them to adopt measures to present their grievences to the state government.
