Arochukwu Residents Urge Speedy Completion of Ohafia–Arochukwu Road, Hail Otti’s Development Efforts

…As Contractor Promises Speedy Completion

Residents of Arochukwu have appealed for the swift completion of the Ohafia–Arochukwu Federal Road being constructed by the Abia State Government under Governor Alex Otti, expressing optimism about the project’s transformative impact on their communities.

Among those who made the appeal were Ozuah Ihueze from Isiala Ngwa North; a staff of the Arochukwu College of Education Technical, Mrs. Chinomso Michael; and Chinkwe Onyekachi from Ikwuano LGA, who resides in Arochukwu.

They spoke during an inspection tour led by the Abia State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, who visited the project site alongside the contractor, Ifeanyi Clement Okorie of I.A.C Allied Technical and Construction Company.

The residents described the road as a major economic lifeline and an important link to Akwa Ibom State, noting that its completion would ease movement, boost commerce, and strengthen cultural and social ties between Arochukwu and neighbouring communities.

They expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far, pointing out that the ongoing improvements have already enhanced the appearance of the area. According to them, the installation of street lights has given parts of the community a more urban outlook.

The residents also thanked Governor Otti for prioritising the project. Mrs. Michael, in particular, commended the administration for installing solar lights and implementing other infrastructural upgrades that have benefited the College of Education where she works. She recalled that some sections of the road previously caused frequent accidents due to deep potholes and applauded the governor for widening and improving the route.

They further emphasized that the road, once completed, would significantly ease the transportation of agricultural produce, enabling rural farmers to move goods to markets more efficiently.

The Contractor, Mr. Ifeanyi Clement Okorie promised that his company would not only deliver in record time but ensure specifications.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works held discussions with the contractor on strategies to ensure timely delivery of the remaining phase of the road project.
