The death has been announced of Ezinne Ahuruchi Okorie of the Okorie Lewechi family of Akaekwo Amamba Uzuakoli. She died at the age of ninety one, and her family has invited friends and well wishers to join in celebrating her life of service, faith and community leadership.
Ezinne Okorie, mother of Hon Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya, was a respected figure in Uzuakoli, noted for her commitment to church activities and her support for women’s groups. Her longstanding involvement in communal development earned her the Ezinne title as well as other recognitions from religious and local organisations.
She was also the mother of Captain Onyebuchi Okorie, the first air pilot from Uzuakoli, who flew with Aero Contractors Ltd for over three decades. His professional achievements earned her the popular name Nne Captain in the community.
Family coordinators said a Service of Songs will take place on Tuesday, 30 December 2025 at her home in Ndi Ojimmadu, Akaekwo Autonomous Community, Amamba Uzuakoli, Bende Local Government Area from 5 p.m. The Funeral Service is scheduled for Wednesday, 31 December 2025 at Methodist College Uzuakoli by 10 a.m., under the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dodds Cathedral Circuit.
Family members, including HRH Eze Uchendu Okorie and Dr Obioha Okorie, noted that arrangements have been made to ensure the ceremonies reflect gratitude for her contributions to the church and community.
