APC Chairman Chukwu Criticizes Abia Government, Says State Experiencing “Motion Without Movement”

The Abia State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, has described the current state of governance in Abia as “motion without movement,” alleging that the administration of the Labour Party has failed to convert available resources into visible development.

Chukwu made the remarks during the inauguration of the 17 Local Government Area chairmen elected at the recently concluded ward and LGA congresses of the party. He argued that beyond what he described as “sponsored propaganda and social media noise,” the government led by Alex Otti has not significantly moved the state beyond the level it met upon assuming office.

According to him, the scale of infrastructural development being publicized by the state government does not match the volume of funds accruing to the state from the Federal Government.

He stressed that effective governance should be reflected in improved infrastructure, economic activity, and better living conditions for residents.

Chukwu also expressed concern over what he described as declining economic activity in the state. He noted that it was troubling that many city centres shut down as early as 7 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m., a situation he said deprives the state of valuable business hours and revenue.

He argued that a vibrant economy requires deliberate policies that encourage commercial activities, nightlife, and investor confidence.

Addressing the newly inaugurated party chairmen, the APC chairman urged them to sustain the current atmosphere of peace and unity within the party. He warned against the misuse of their positions or actions that could alienate new members joining the party.

“This is serious business,” he said. “The reason we are here is to win elections to deliver Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to reclaim Government House in Umuahia.”

He further directed the LGA chairmen to intensify grassroots mobilization and expand party membership in their respective areas, stressing that complacency would not be tolerated under his leadership. However, he assured them of adequate support and improved welfare to enable them carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Chukwu described the APC as the most vibrant political party in Abia State with strong grassroots appeal, adding that the party must maintain that strength to secure victory in future elections. He also urged the LGA chairmen to proceed with the inauguration of ward executives in their various local government areas.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Hon. Onyeukwu Nwogu, expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in them. He assured that the newly elected executives would work diligently to strengthen party structures and work toward delivering victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
